Astros fire manager Brad Mills, name Tony DeFrancesco as their interim manager
The Houston Astros have fired manager Brad Mills and have also sent first base coach Bobby Meacham and hitting coach Mike Barnett to the unemployment line as well.
The team named Tony DeFrancesco as their interim manager. Defrancesco was currently managing the Triple-A, which is pretty much the same quality of team that he will be managing in the big leagues. Dan Radison will join the club as the interim first base coach while Ty Van Burkleo will serve as interim hitting coach.
The team is currently 39-82 and is 3-7 in their last 10 and are only 34 games out in the Central.
Back in 2010, the Astros exercised Mills’ 2012 option and added another club option for 2013. When the Astros decided to pickup his option and add another, the club was just coming off of a 76-86 season which was Mills’ first season.
