Carlos Lee would like to come back with the Marlins in 2013
Even though the Marlins have struggled- for lack of a better word- this season, Carlos Lee is having a blast playing for them and would like to come back to Miami next season writes Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.
“I like this team,” Lee said. “I don’t know what their plans are, but I like it here. It’s a lot more fun when you’ve got opportunities like you’ve got here. It’s exciting to have guys in front of you, getting on base, stealing bases and creating opportunities.”
Lee will be a free agent at the end of the season, and the fact that the Marlins are considering moving Logan Morrison to first base will work against him. The 36-year old first baseman is making $19 million this season, and unless he’s willing to accept a huge cut in his paycheck and come back on a one year deal I doubt he’ll be back. So let’s see how bad he wants to play with the Marlins.
Since joining the Marlins, Lee has hit .299/.394/.364 with 1 HR, 22 RBI’s and a 107 OPS+ in 123 plate appearances.
