Cubs sign Starlin Castro to a seven-year deal
Sources close to Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com report that the Chicago Cubs have agreed to a seven-year, $60 million deal with shortstop Starlin Castro. The contract includes a $16 million option for 2020 with a $1 million buyout.
The 22-year old shortstop is not having a good season, and there’s been questions about his lack of effort, but this is definitely a great move for the Cubs. He will be around for seven more years and on a very team friendly contract.
Castro is a career .297/.333/.422 hitter with 25 HR’s, 165 RBI’s and a 103 OPS+ in 1,720 plate appearances throughout three Major League seasons with the Cubs.
