Indians release Johnny Damon and Jeremy Accardo

The Cleveland Indians have released veterans Johnny Damon and Jeremy Accardo according to Jordan Bastian of MLB.com. Both players were designated for assignment last week.

Damon, 38,  hit .222/.281/.329 with 4 HR’s, 19 RBI’s and a 72 OPS+ in 224 plate appearances for the Indians this season. Accardo, 30, went 0-0 with a 0.8 HR/9, 4.1 BB/9 and 7.1 SO/9 in 35.1 innings for the Indians in 2012.
