Nationals acquire infielder Cesar Izturis

A source close to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post confirms him that the Washington Nationals have acquired veteran infielder Cesar Izturis from the Milwaukee Brewers. To make room on the roster, the Nationals placed Mark DeRosa on the Disabled List and designated Atahualpa Severino for assignment.

To replace Izturis, the Miwaukee Brewers have called up recently acquired Jean Segura. Izturis, 32, was hitting .235/.248/.333 with 2 HR’s, 11 RBI’a and a 53 OPS+ in 169 plate appearances for the Brewers in 2012.
