Nationals designate Carlos Maldonado for assignment

 

Catcher Carlos Maldonado has been designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals to create room for the recently acquired Kurt Suzuki reports Bill Ladson of MLB.com.

Maldonado, 33, only played four games for the Nationals this season. He’s a career .159/.260/.317 hitter with 3 HR’s, 8 RBI’s and a 52 OPS+ in 74 plate appearances for the Nationals and Pirates.
