Nationals designate Cesar Izturis for assignment

The Washington Nationals announced that they have designated shortstop Cesar Izturis for assignment to create room for Ian Desmond who was activated from the Disabled List. The Nationals acquired Izturis from the Brewers earlier this month.

Izturis, 32, is hitting .241/.254/.343 with 2 HR’s, 11 RBI’s and a 58 OPS+ in 173 plate appearances with the Nationals and Brewers in 2012.
