Red Sox release RHP Mark Prior

The Boston Red Sox released oft injured, right handed pitcher Mark Prior according to Brendan McGair of the Pawtucket Times. The 31-year old Prior was trying to make a comeback one more time. This movement will create room for the newly acquired Pedro Beato.

Prior hasn’t pitched in the Majors since 2006 and this season he went 1-0 with a 3.96 ERA, 1.4 HR/9, 8.3 BB/9 and 13.7 SO/9 in 25.0 innings for the Red Sox’s Triple-A team.
