Mariners sign Raul Ibanez
The Seattle Mariners have signed outfielder/DH Raul Ibanez to a one-year deal worth $2.75mm, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports. Ibanez can earn an additional $1.25mm in performance bonuses.
The deal will send Ibanez back to Seattle for the third time where he spent 1996-2000 and 2004-2008. Ibanez will join Kendrys Morales who the M’s acquired earlier this week.
Ibanez made a name for himself this past postseason with the Yankees, especially during the ALDS against the Orioles after numerous clutch hits. He hit .444 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs.
Ibanez hit .240/.308/.453 with 19 homers and 62 RBIs in 425 plate appearances for the Yankees.
