Yankees sign Matt Diaz
The New York Yankees have signed outfielder Matt Diaz to a minor-league deal, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports.
Diaz will make $1.2mm if he makes the big league club, and can earn an additional $800k in incentives, Marc Carig of Newsday adds.
Diaz was traded to the Braves at the end of August ‘11 from the Pirates where he had signed a two-year deal with them the previous winter.
Last year with the Braves, Diaz hit .222/.280/.333 in 108 at-bats with 2 home runs and 13 RBIs.
