Ahmad Bradshaw is Not Surprised He Was Released, Understands the Move and is Open to Returning to the Giants in the Future

The New York Giants have jumped into the offseason with a cannonball, releasing three key cogs from their 2011 Super Bowl season only days after Super Bowl XLVII. Gone are Chris Canty, Michael Boley and Ahmad Bradshaw, who scored the winning touchdown in that last championship victory over the Patriots. But Bradshaw insists he has no hard feelings.

Ahmad Bradshaw joined Mike Francesa on WFAN in New York to discuss being released by the Giants, his communication with the team, his foot problems, his understanding of the move, his relationship with the team and how much football he has left in him.

On if he was surprised he was cut:

“I kind of saw this coming. I knew it would happen sooner or later; I didn’t know when. I’m just looking towards the next thing to happen. The only hard part is that I’m leaving a family, a great family, that I’ve learned to love.”

On what the Giants told him:

“Just that they had to move on, and they also mentioned future possibilities. And that’s what I said.”

On if it’s a concern that he recently had another foot surgery:

“It never has been. After all my foot surgeries, I’ve practiced every training camp since I’ve been in the league. So I plan to be back and maybe even better this year. … I’ve always had a chip on my shoulder, but this makes it a very big one.”

On if he understands the move:

“This is part of the business. Like I said, the Giants are still in my family. I’ll always remember those guys. … The relationship built between us, that will always be there. They respected me, they called me … I talked to everybody there. There’s no hard feeling there.”

On how much football he has left in him:

“No telling after this foot surgery. … Last year I went ahead and got the stem cell instead. And the stem cell actually wore off and it was like 100 [percent] until the San Francisco game. … I played injured for the rest of the season, so I think I needed this surgery. I should have got it last year, and I think after I get back right this year I think I’ll be even better. So there’s no telling how long I have for my career.”

On not believing he’s done:

“I’m very confident I’m not done.”

On if there’s a chance he returns to the Giants:

“It was mentioned, and there’s always a door open on my side.”
